University Projects
This project seeks to engage younger visitors by incorporating interactive elements that highlight the cultural heritage and communal aspects of sento.
In response to urban expansion and the decline of traditional sentos, the design preserves the original dimensions while drawing inspiration from the resilience of moss. The project blends traditional practices with modern sensibilities, creating a meaningful connection between past and future generations.
By mimicking the way moss thrives in harmony with its environment, the project creates a serene atmosphere that evokes natural growth.
Timber serves as the primary structural element of the sento, and by exposing its natural framework, the design evokes a forest-like ambiance that seamlessly harmonizes with the sky’s reflection, enhancing the overall connection to nature.
Entrance
The main entrance is hidden behind, providing protection. However, as people approach, the space and view open up, welcoming visitors in. Isolated yet connected.
